ELEVATING EVERY WOMAN’S ROUTINE (PART 1)

As women called to live purposefully and honorably, caring for our bodies is a daily act of stewardship and worship. Most of us were taught the basics of hygiene from an early age – soap, water, deodorant, and a simple daily routine that gets the job done. And while these are foundational, there is a deeper and more intentional way to care for our bodies that many of us simply haven’t been exposed to. The truth is, personal hygiene is not just about staying clean – it’s about embracing the value God has placed in us and stewarding our physical selves with wisdom, care, and grace.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies”.
This verse doesn’t only apply to our spiritual habits, but also to the way we physically maintain the vessel He’s given us. Caring for our skin, hair, and overall wellness is not vanity; it’s reverence. This reflects self-respect, dignity, and gratitude. So, while the soap and water routine have its place, there’s more we can learn, apply and enjoy. The following tips are a beautiful invitation to go beyond the basics—to elevate your routine with insight, intentionality and care.
- Body care–Incorporating a double body cleansing system is effective. This involves using an antibacterial soap before proceeding with a scented soap (tread carefully if you have allergies or sensitive skin). It is also imperative to use a gentle sponge while bathing to enhance the cleansing process by removing dirt and oil that has been trapped on your skin. Gently exfoliate your skin once a week (or as needed) with the use of either exfoliating dry wooden brush or body scrub as this helps remove dead skin cells and improve skin texture and appearance.
2. Practice mindful shaving or hair removal by opting for shaving creams instead of razors, especially under the arms, where razors can often cause irritation and bumps. Waxing and Laser epilation are other effective options for a longer lasting effect.
3. A minimalist skincare routine every morning can elevate overall appearance; face cleanser, suitable toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen (being used in all seasons). Moreover, products such as serums can be added depending on your skin concerns. All products should be selected based on your skin type.
4. Hydration—Inside and Out. Nourishing your body begins with staying hydrated. Aim to drink at least 2 liters of water daily to support overall health and skin vitality. Externally, apply hydrating body lotions or creams immediately after bathing while the skin is still damp – this helps seal in moisture and keeps your skin soft, supple, and glowing.
6. Skin Supplements. Incorporating vitamins, A, C, and E and omega three into your routine offers added skin benefits, including supporting cell growth, aiding in repair, and maintaining moisture levels. These nutrients help improve skin texture and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles as we age.
