BEING LOGGED INTO GOD'S PLAN

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12. In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (NLT)

Verse 11 is one of the most quoted passages of scripture but still very profound. God is speaking and saying that He has good plans for us, and the latter verses tell us that when we pray, He will listen, and when we look for Him wholeheartedly, we will find Him. It is clear from the passage that at every season of our lives, God has a plan for us and an assignment for us to carry out. God did not create us to occupy empty spaces, and if we understood that, then we would seek Him at every stage for the plans for our lives that only He knows.

We will be looking at a part of the story of a man, Moses, from the book of Exodus 4:1–17. Moses had a call of God upon His life, whether he knew it or not. We know that God doesn’t prepare the purpose of a man after he or she has been born, as seen in Jeremiah 1:4-5

“4Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

And it does not only apply to the people of old but to you in this present time. God is the One who knows the end of everything from the beginning of it. He knows all things; therefore, your life is laid out before Him. That means when He is telling you to do something, it’s already thought out. When he takes you to a certain level in your life that you are meant to be at, it’s because that is what has already been written about you and not someone else. It is a foolproof plan; nothing can go wrong. Moses kept on bringing up excuses, not just about why he was limited but also because he thought he was the wrong choice. Sometimes God gives you a glimpse of the great things to come, but because you are too distracted by supposed self-limitations, you won’t be able to see it and understand it.

Moses was in the habit of escaping his current reality; coupled with the fact that he had a lot of weaknesses, he told God to choose someone else. Sometimes can you agree that even when you have a vision and a clue of what God is doing in your life, you may not align to it because it doesn’t look like what you want. Not recognizing God in the now based on what He has told you is to come is a big problem. If you were an actor in a production; would you get yourself worried and focused on the availability of the props, costumes, or fellow actors? No, you wouldn’t, because you know that it is the job of the producer to get all of that sorted. Your job is to learn your part and your lines based on the script so that when it is time to act, you will be able to deliver. Do not be absent in the present; learn your part according to scripture. You can’t be operating from the memory of yesterday’s smoke when you are meant to be in today’s fire, and this cuts across all ramifications of your life.

There is a burden of purpose, and you may think that you know how your life should be going, but you don’t unless you seek the face of God. The Bible says in Isaiah 41:13

“For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you’”. (NLT)

Which means that He is the One who leads us. Therefore, you need to acknowledge that there is a call of God upon your life, that He is the One who wrote the script, and any other plan you may have is abstract. When you pray, you need to ask God to help you surrender your plan for his own plan. If you are too focused on your plans or what you think God’s plans are for you, then it’s going to be hard to accept His will for you; you’ll either be misaligned or indifferent about it. Just like Moses, you need to start recognising how to exercise the gifts of God in your life while there is still time, and as you do so, you will be on the path to your expected end in Christ.
