MY IDENTITY (PART 3)

BIBLE TEXT: 1 peter 2:9 (NJKV)
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
These words bring a strong conviction of how intentional God is about His children. If we are a chosen generation, it means it was never a mistake that we were born. Think about a God that knew you even before you were born, as the word of God says,
Jeremiah 1:5. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (NKJV)
Every detail of my life has been predestined by the one who is Omniscient. What a privilege to be known by a God whose love is higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans. If the word of God says that we are a chosen generation, the question we need to answer is: have we made the choice to be used by the one who chose us? Secondly, do these words resonate with us to take action?
I know sometimes the deposits of pain, shame, regrets, fear, and a sense of unworthiness can cloud our sense of judgement, but if the WORD calls us chosen, then hold on to that. If we want to be honest with ourselves, our clinging to the pain, shame, and regrets has yielded nothing, and it’s been a vicious cycle. God is saying to you today to try holding on to what the word says about you being chosen for a moment, to speak it until it becomes your reality because chosen people are proactive; they don’t wait for life to happen to them, so they hide and go back to their shell of obscurity.
When we begin to have the conviction that life does not happen to us but happens for us, as the American speaker and author Byron Katie says, we will begin to see how every phase and chapter of our lives have sharpened us into who we are and are becoming. Can I also say this to someone today that
LIFE DID NOT HAPPEN TO YOU; YOU HAPPENED TO LIFE.
How did you happen to life? For every time you pick yourself back up when you fall, every time you stretch your arms in total surrender, every time you expose your vulnerability for God’s help, and every time you deny taking on the identity of failure, rejection, pain, shame, disappointment, and grief, you fill in the missing words: every time you hold on to your identity as chosen and not deserted, you bruise the head of the serpent.
Also, when we take on the garment of being a royal priest, we come to the realisation that the word of God must be proclaimed as you dedicate your life to Him. This is important because it brings us to a place of Holiness, where we are set apart, and this does sound like a cliché, but for every season that God brings us into in our lives, there is a sacrifice required of us to go through that season, and being set apart every now and then is one exercise we would have to go carry out. This helps us to have a self-reflection but also channels us to the direction of growth where we are stretched because growth is not a comfortable process, but the results are obvious. Lastly, when I begin to agree with what His word says about being His special person in
Deuteronomy 26:18 “Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments,” (NKJV)
It is easy for me to show forth the praise of Abba, who called me out of darkness into His marvellous light. Know that the times we can’t feel these words aligning with our feelings, we must realise that our feelings, or what we call our reality, are not the validation of who God sees us to be. Until we begin to accept His unfailing love, confess His word into our lives, we will keep living in doubt and probably anger. As a woman or a man, you are not an afterthought, and God had you in mind during creation (Genesis 1:27). You should also know that you were created not to occupy space, but because you were needed.
Ephesian 1:4 says, “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love”. (NKJV)
Once more, you are loved with an everlasting love and with God’s lovingkindness He has drawn you (Jeremiah 31:3). YOU ARE VALUED, YOU ARE VALUABLE, AND IF YOU EVER WONDER HOW VALUABLE YOU ARE OR HOW MUCH YOU ARE WORTH, THINK ABOUT JESUS AND THE CROSS.
Always REMEMBER THAT THE DEVIL/ENEMY HAS AN ADVANTAGE WHEN YOU QUESTION OR FORGET WHO ARE. WHEN YOU CANNOT REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT, NEVER FORGET WHOSE YOU ARE (GOD’S OWN SPECIAL).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to you, and I ask you to help me embrace the truth of your word concerning everything written about me. Let every doubt give way to the testimony of your truth about me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
