MY WAY OUT
“Oh God, I am stuck. There’s so much going on, Lord, and I can’t see a way out…”
Maybe you’ve prayed like that too. Maybe you’ve been in that place where the weight of trauma, confusion, and chaos feels like a cage. Where you start to wonder if this is all there is; if maybe God created you to live with this pain, because that’s all you’ve ever known.
But let me take you on a journey, one that begins in darkness but doesn’t end there.
2 Corinthians 4:6 – “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (KJV)
The first time I read this verse; it jumped at me: He can call light out of darkness. That’s not just poetic; it’s deeply spiritual.
But what is darkness?
Imagine a room with no light. You’re stumbling, confused, disoriented. Everything feels unfamiliar and dangerous, not because it is, but because you can’t see clearly. That’s what trauma can feel like. That’s what depression, shame, or fear feels like.
So how can light come from something so empty?
Let’s go back to the beginning.
Genesis 1:1–3 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.” (KJV)
We often quote verse 1 and skip to 3, but verse 2 is where I paused. The earth was formless and void, in Hebrew-tohu va-bohu which literally means empty, chaotic, desolate. Yet right there, in that mess, the Spirit of God was moving. He didn’t wait for the darkness to clear; He spoke into it “Let there be light”, and there was. If God could call light out of chaos at creation, He can still call light out of your pain, your silence, your mess. That means darkness doesn’t have the final word; the light is already embedded inside; sometimes you just need the Word to reveal it.
So, what is my way out?
The answer is the Word, not just in theory, but in practice; because when you’re in the middle of pain, it’s hard to open your Bible, it’s hard to pray, it’s hard to even believe that God is still listening.
Here’s how the way out begins: with honesty.
It starts when you say, “God, I don’t know what to do, but I want You.”
It starts with one verse, one raw prayer, one moment of silence where you choose not to run, but to sit in His presence, even if you don’t feel Him.
When the darkness feels suffocating, whisper His name. When your heart feels numb, play worship, even if you just sit there and listen.
When you feel stuck, talk to someone who carries His light; don’t carry it alone.
Because He’s not asking you to fix it, he’s asking you to let Him in.
The same God who called light out of the void is still speaking today, and His Word still creates. It creates hope, healing, direction, identity, and freedom. He doesn’t need perfect conditions to move, He never has.
So no, it’s not easy, but it’s possible.
And every time you choose to let His Word reach you, even in your chaos, you are already stepping into the light.
Let that be your way out.
YOU DON’T STEAL FROM AN EMPTY.
What you’re carrying is worth fighting for! I gave my life to Christ during a crossover.
